Biography

Andrew Renton

Andrew Renton works as an independent curator and writer. He has published a number of catalogues and books on contemporary art, including Technique Anglaise: Current Trends in British Art, Thames & Hudson, 1991, the first book to document the now-established Young British Artists phenomenon. Renton has also organised more than two dozen exhibitions in museums throughout the world including: Manifesta 1, Rotterdam, 1996, the first edition of the European biennale, held in twelve museums, with the collaboration of thirty-five countries; ‘Browser’, Vancouver, 1997, a project involving 350 artists; ‘Bankside Browser’, Tate Modern, 1999; ‘Total Object Complete with Missing Parts’, Tramway, Glasgow, 2001 and Shumakom, Artist’s House, Jerusalem, 2002.
