Stephanie Syjuco set up a parasitic workshop in which a small group of artists made bootleg copies of other works exhibited in the fair. The artists used basic and inexpensive materials and worked in a gallery stand at the fair in full view of visitors. The copies were displayed in an adjacent gallery stand. Copystand: an autonomous manufacturing zone drew on Syjuco’s recent projects involving approximate copies: crocheted branded luxury goods, cardboard replicas of Charlotte Perriand furniture and body doubles.
The bootleg works are available to purchase from a stand next to H14 and opposite G16.
